Sci-Fi Cast: Star Wars Prequels
I’ve been enjoying the podcast Sci-Fi Cast, a weekly nerdgasmic podcast with Jen Segrest, Ged Maheux, Krystyn Heide, and Dave Caolo. It’s still in its childhood of eight episodes, but it has considerable promise and maturity for its age. It isn’t so good at punctuality yet, but we can forgive that. In case you guys are keeping tabs, I found it via Ged’s blog.
Usually they critique the latest Battlestar Galactica, theorizing on the final Cylon, who’s going to die next, what the hell is up with Baltar’s Head Six, et cetera. For the record, in order: It’s totally Roslin; I really hope it’s Gaeta; and Baltar and Caprica-Six somehow fused in the nuclear explosion. Maybe because of all the sex they had. If, like me, all of your friends look at BSG with disdain (they don’t understand that you have to start at the beginning!), then Sci-Fi Cast is actually an excellent way to hear other’s opinions on the latest episode. Plus, they keep it around 20 minutes long.
However, it is not “Galactica Cast” but “Sci-Fi Cast”, and as such, they do occasionally discuss other stuff (and I hope that trend continues when BSG ends). As one of their “9 loyal listeners” I have to say that my favorite of the podcast is actually the aforelinked episode. While it only has Ged and Dave, it is still a 50-minute bashfest of the Star Wars prequels. A bashfest that was deliciously satisfying, like watching that kid who threatened you in grade school end up friendless and homeless.
Also, how can anything that incorporates a Robot Chicken skit at the end be bad? Don’t answer that.
